Anand Mahindra Hails Team India’s Self-Belief After Asia Cup 2025 Final Thriller

Industrialist Anand Mahindra has showered praise on the Indian cricket team after their nail-biting victory against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final. Sharing a picture of the men in blue on the field, the Mahindra Group Chairperson described their self-belief as “the true Brahmastra of a nation.”

“When the bowlers saw the opposition openers running away with the game, they held their focus and made the wickets tumble like skittles. When the batsmen saw our opening heroes depart early, they stayed calm and turned the chase into a stroll. Nerves of steel, ice in their veins. Self-belief is the Brahmastra of every individual, and of a nation. I salute Team India for reminding us of that truth. That’s why they are our Monday motivation,” Mahindra wrote on X.

The Brahmastra, a mythical weapon from Hindu epics, is often used as a metaphor to signify unstoppable strength.

India lifted their ninth Asia Cup crown in a contest filled with dramatic twists. Pakistan, cruising at 113/1 in the 13th over, suffered a stunning collapse engineered by India’s spinners. Kuldeep Yadav was the game-changer, bagging four wickets, including three in a single over. He was ably supported by Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy, who wrapped up Pakistan’s innings at 146 in 19.1 overs.

Chasing 147, India stumbled to 20/3 before Tilak Varma steadied the innings with crucial partnerships alongside Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube. Varma remained unbeaten on 69 off 51 balls, while Rinku Singh sealed the win with a boundary in the final over, handing India a five-wicket win with one ball to spare.

In a symbolic gesture, the Indian team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy, citing the Pahalgam terror attack and ongoing military tensions. Players also declined awards from Asian Cricket Council President and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, later staging a mock celebration with an imaginary trophy.

Earlier in the Super Fours, India had overpowered Pakistan with a six-wicket win, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s blazing 74 off 39 balls—their highest successful chase against Pakistan in T20Is. At the time, Mahindra had reacted by quoting Sharma’s words, “You talk, we win,” calling it his #MondayMotivation.
