Akshay Kumar to Star in Hindi Remake of Telugu Hit ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunam’

Bollywood continues its trend of remaking successful South Indian films, and the latest project is the Hindi version of the Telugu blockbuster Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Superstar Akshay Kumar has been roped in to play the lead role originally essayed by Venkatesh Daggubati.

The original film, directed by Anil Ravipudi, released in January 2025 and became one of the biggest hits of the year. It earned an impressive ₹280 crore globally, making it the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2025 until September, despite not being dubbed into other languages.

Described as a “triangular crime entertainer,” the story follows a man caught between his ex-girlfriend and his wife, blending family drama with dark humor and emotional depth—a hallmark of Ravipudi’s filmmaking style. The Hindi remake is expected to adapt the story for the North Indian audience while retaining the original’s mix of humor, suspense, and emotion.
