Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra’s ‘Ikkis’ Postponed to January 1, 2026, to Avoid Box Office Clash

The highly anticipated war drama Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra, has been rescheduled from its original Christmas release on December 25, 2025, to January 1, 2026. The makers announced the change on X, stating, “This new year, gift yourself courage. Final #Ikkis trailer drops this weekend in theatres. A new chapter unfolds in legendary director Sriram Raghvan’s first war film. The true story of India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra Awardee, Second Lt. Arun Khetarpal. Some heroes die young. Experience courage in cinemas #Ikkis releasing on 1st January 2026.”

The release shift comes as Christmas week is shaping up to be crowded at the box office, with Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar crossing the Rs 400 crore mark in India and Hollywood blockbuster Avatar: Fire and Ash releasing on December 19, 2025. The new date also avoids a direct clash with Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s romantic drama Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, which is set for December 25, 2025.

The January 1 release gives Ikkis a solo window in theatres, ensuring better access to prime multiplex screens, stronger visibility, and more opportunities to build momentum from day one. The final trailer of the film is set to be unveiled on December 19, 2025.

Directed by Sriram Raghvan, Ikkis is based on the true story of Second Lt. Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. The film highlights courage, sacrifice, and heroism, marking a poignant moment for fans as it features Dharmendra’s final on-screen performance.
