ARTO Office in Fatehpur Raided by ADM-ASP

Fatehpur, September 3, 2026 – A joint raid by district administration and police on the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) in Fatehpur on Thursday caused a stir. The surprise operation was led by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), aiming to curb alleged agents disrupting public services and extorting money.

As news of the raid spread, several agents active in and around the ARTO office premises fled the scene. However, the administrative and police teams swiftly intercepted approximately 25 suspicious individuals for questioning. Following initial scrutiny, 15 people were released, but about 10 individuals who could not provide satisfactory answers were taken into police custody.

Ten Alleged Agents Detained for Questioning

The 10 detained individuals are currently being questioned at the local police station (Kotwali) to ascertain their connections and activities related to the ARTO office. This action was prompted by persistent complaints received by the administration regarding the long-standing presence and alleged illegal collection of money by external individuals at the ARTO office in exchange for facilitating transport-related tasks.

The ADM and ASP conducted this operation discreetly, meticulously gathering information on the activities of people present around the office. Police are now working to determine the connection of the detained individuals to the ARTO office's operational system and the unauthorized activities they were involved in. The raid has also raised questions about the office's functioning.

CCTV and Operational Scrutiny Underway

The effectiveness of the CCTV cameras within the office premises was also questioned during the raid. If external activities continued unchecked despite the presence of surveillance, it raises doubts about the monitoring system's efficacy, a point that will also be investigated. Currently, there has been no official statement regarding the involvement of any officers or employees.

Further action against the detained individuals will be determined based on the investigation's findings and once their roles are clarified. Officials have stated that action will be taken according to the law based on the facts that emerge from the investigation. The primary objective of this raid is to protect citizens from unnecessary harassment at the ARTO office and to effectively curb the activities of illegal intermediaries.

Discussions are ongoing within the ARTO office premises following the action by the ADM and ASP, and a climate of fear prevails among the alleged agents.
