Adani's Ambitious AI Infrastructure Push

Adani Group announced a massive $100 billion investment to build renewable energy-powered AI-ready data centers by 2035. This initiative aims to capitalize on India's growing ambitions to become a leading AI infrastructure hub.

The investment is projected to spur an additional $150 billion in related sectors. This could potentially create a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the next decade, according to Adani Enterprises.

Partnerships and Expansion Plans

AdaniConneX's existing 2GW national data center is expanding towards a 5GW target. This expansion is being supported by partnerships with tech giants like Google and Microsoft.

In October last year, AdaniConneX announced a partnership with Google, involving a $15 billion investment. This investment will establish India's largest AI data center hub and energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam.

Microsoft is collaborating to set up campuses across Hyderabad and Pune. Details of these projects have not yet been fully disclosed.

Collaboration with Flipkart and Industry-Wide Interest

The Adani Group is in talks with other major players to build large-scale data center campuses across India.

A partnership with Walmart's Flipkart is also in the works to develop a second AI data center. This center will support Flipkart's AI workloads and next-generation digital commerce initiatives.

India as an AI Creator

"At Adani, we are building on our foundation in data centres and green energy to expand into the complete five-layer AI stack focused on India's technological sovereignty. India will not be a mere consumer in the AI age. We will be the creators, builders and the exporters of intelligence,"

said Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group.

Adani Enterprises will also invest another $55 billion to expand its renewable energy portfolio. This includes one of the world's largest battery energy storage systems.

What to Watch Next

Future developments will focus on the progress of Adani's data center projects and the expansion of its renewable energy portfolio. Keep an eye on announcements regarding further partnerships and the impact of these investments on India's AI ecosystem as the 2035 deadline approaches.
