Act of war’: NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he confronted Trump over Venezuela operation

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he spoke directly with U.S. President Donald Trump to express strong opposition to reported U.S. military action in Venezuela, calling it an “act of war” against a sovereign nation.

In public remarks, Mamdani said he challenged the White House over what he described as a unilateral military operation involving Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, warning that such action could have grave international consequences.
