ABVP Expresses Outrage Over Guna Sports Complex Safety and Facilities, Submits Memorandum to SP

Protest Over Safety and Facilities

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday registered a strong protest at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Guna. Their grievances centered on player safety, curbing drug use, and a lack of basic amenities at the international hockey ground and sports complex.

Led by ABVP Nagar Mantri Abhishek Yadav, the organization submitted a memorandum highlighting these critical issues. The memorandum demands immediate attention and swift resolution of their 15-point demands.

Concerns Regarding Infrastructure and Security

According to the memorandum, a large number of players practice at the sports complex daily. However, the absence of adequate security and infrastructure has become a significant concern for them. The ABVP urged the administration to immediately halt drug consumption and illegal activities within and around the premises.

Emphasis was placed on measures such as regular police patrols, installation of sufficient CCTV cameras, effective lighting during evening hours, and a complete ban on the entry of anti-social elements.

Player Amenities and Demands

The organization has put forth several crucial demands to enhance player convenience. These include the construction of permanent washrooms, availability of clean drinking water from water coolers/RO systems, regular cleanliness, and proper waste management.

Further demands encompass the provision of changing rooms for players, deployment of a permanent security guard, and prominent display of emergency police contact numbers within the complex. The memorandum also calls for levelling the football ground with murram, setting fixed timings for the opening and closing of the complex gates, special surveillance on sensitive and dark corners, and periodic joint inspections by the Sports Department and Police.

The ABVP believes that fulfilling these demands will foster a safer and improved environment for players at the sports complex, ultimately contributing to better performance.
