FIR Filed Against Aaj Tak Anchor and Media Group

Ludhiana Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Aaj Tak journalist and managing editor Anjana Om Kashyap, India Today Group chairman and editor-in-chief Aroon Purie, and Living Media India Limited (India Today Group) following allegations of hurting the sentiments of the Valmiki community.

The complaint was filed by Chaudhary Yashpal, national coordinator of Bharatiya Valmiki Dharam Samaj (BHAVADHAS), who resides in Mohalla Ghati Valmiki, Ludhiana. According to the FIR, Kashyap allegedly made derogatory remarks against the ancient-era saint Valmiki during her show, which was later shared on official social media platforms, including Facebook.

BHAVADHAS has stated that the remarks were offensive and demanded appropriate action against the journalist and the media house. The FIR marks the beginning of a legal inquiry, with authorities expected to investigate the broadcast content and the context of the alleged remarks.

Representatives of the India Today Group have not yet publicly responded to the FIR registration.
