Excise Department Seizes Illicit Liquor in Guna

In a significant operation against the illegal liquor trade, the Excise Department in Guna district has seized 83 liters of hand-prepared illicit liquor. The seizure was made in the Singwasa area, near the Panchmukhi Hanuman Temple, where a juvenile was apprehended carrying the contraband on a motorcycle.

The total value of the seized liquor and the motorcycle has been estimated at approximately 75,000 rupees. This action was carried out under the strict directives of Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal and Divisional Deputy Commissioner of Excise Sandeep Sharma, with the operation guided by District Excise Officer Guruprasad Kewat.

Juvenile Apprehended with Illicit Liquor

Acting on precise intelligence from an informant, a team led by Radhakishan Attariya, in-charge of Excise Circle Guna-1, cordoned off the area. The special campaign was initiated to curb the illegal liquor trade in this region, with confidential information from locals playing a crucial role.

During the cordon, the team apprehended a juvenile under suspicious circumstances. A total of 83 liters of illicit hand-prepared liquor, contained in pouches of one-liter capacity each, were recovered from four bags and one sack on his motorcycle. This illicit liquor was likely prepared locally and was being transported for sale elsewhere.

Legal Proceedings and Future Warnings

The Excise Department has secured samples of the seized liquor for testing to determine its quality and origin. The administration reported that along with the illicit liquor, the motorcycle and other items were confiscated, bringing the total value of seized property to approximately 75,000 rupees.

Given the age of the apprehended juvenile, he has been presented before the Child Court as per legal procedures, where further proceedings will be conducted under child protection laws. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, which governs the manufacturing, storage, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor and stipulates strict penalties for violations.

The Excise Department officials are conducting a detailed investigation to ascertain the source and intended destination of the illicit liquor, potentially identifying collaborators or larger suppliers. The department has emphasized that such stringent actions against the manufacturing, sale, and transportation of illicit liquor will continue, demonstrating the administration's commitment to maintaining law and order and public health.
