Two youths travelling in the vehicle were apprehended during the action. The duo was reportedly loading the firecrackers from Hathras and en route to Lakhimpur Kheri.

Around 3:45 AM on Friday, a police team conducting routine vehicle checks at the Panchal Ghat intersection intercepted a suspicious mini-truck. A search revealed 21 cardboard boxes filled with firecrackers. When questioned about valid licenses and documentation for transporting explosives, the driver and his associate failed to produce any.

Accused Confess to Illegal Smuggling

During police interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to purchasing the firecrackers from Hathras and intending to deliver them to Lakhimpur Kheri. The total weight of the seized firecrackers was estimated at approximately 6.57 quintals. The vehicle was immediately impounded, and the two accused were taken to the Kadripegate police station for further intensive questioning.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ravi Kumar and Deepak Gupta, residents of Jangbahadur village in the Pasgawan police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri.

Action Under Explosives Act

Station House Officer of Kadripegate police station, Kapil Chaudhary, confirmed the incident, stating that illegally transporting firecrackers without a valid license is a serious offense under the Explosives Act. A case has been registered against both accused under the relevant sections of this act.

Upon receiving news of the incident, several individuals from Lakhimpur Kheri arrived at the police station, attempting to mediate and secure the release of the firecrackers. However, the police administration maintained its stance, refusing to succumb to any external pressure and continuing with the proceedings as per the law and legal procedures.
