Inauguration of the 28th Divisional Athletics Competition

The grand opening of the 28th Divisional Athletics Competition took place on Monday at the local Sports Stadium in Balrampur. This two-day sporting event sees hundreds of student athletes from the Gonda, Bahraich, Shravasti, and Balrampur districts showcasing their talent in various disciplines.

Under the guidance of their physical education teachers, students are competing across sub-junior, junior, and senior categories. The competition was officially inaugurated by Yogendra Kumar Singh, Joint Director of Education, Ayodhya Division, who released balloons into the sky.

Day One Highlights and Competition Results

The first day of the competition featured thrilling contests, with the 100-meter dash and long jump drawing particular attention. In the senior boys' 100-meter race, Arvind Goswami from Shravasti secured the first position, followed by Sourav Kashyap of Gonda in second and Shivam Kumar of Bahraich in third.

In the senior girls' 100-meter race, Kajal from Bahraich emerged victorious. The long jump event saw Arvind Yadav from Balrampur win the senior boys' category, while Wahid Hussain, also from Balrampur, claimed the top spot in the junior boys' event.

Logistical Challenges Surface Amidst Competition

While the athletes displayed exceptional enthusiasm on the field, reports of disorganization emerged from the venue. Several participating students shared that they had been at the stadium since 8 AM, but by 3 PM, no arrangements for food had been made.

Some students ate food brought from home, while others were treated to meals at local hotels by their teachers. The students clarified that there were no official catering arrangements provided by the organizers.

Present at the event were District Sports Officer Ashish Kumar, along with Dr. Chandan Kumar Pandey, Ashok Kumar Pandey, K.P. Yadav, B.N. Singh, Abul Hashim, Geeta Gautam, and V.K. Shukla, including secretaries and teachers from various districts.

The program was expertly compered by Hindi spokesperson Suresh Yadav. Numerous important matches are scheduled for the second day, promising continued excitement and high spirits among the competitors. The administration is focusing on the smooth conduct of sports activities to ensure all scheduled events conclude on time. Sports enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the results of the remaining contests.
