Illegal Liquor Smuggling Crackdown in Bhopal

Bhopal Police, as part of their 'Distance from Intoxication is Essential' campaign, have made a significant bust against illegal liquor smuggling. They arrested 19-year-old Mohammed Samir, seizing 7 cases (54 liters) of illicit country liquor and the vehicle used in the smuggling operation. The arrest was made by the Ayodhyanagar Police Station on July 20, 2026.

According to police reports, the accused, Mohammed Samir Khan, is a resident of Roshanpura Jhuggi Basti and was allegedly smuggling liquor to distribute within the slum area. This action was carried out under the directives of Police Commissioner Shri Sanjay Kumar and Additional Police Commissioner Shri Shailendra Singh Chauhan, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-02, Shri Vikas Sahwal.

Youth Apprehended with Illicit Liquor

Under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ms. Mini Shukla, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ms. Divya Jhariya, a team led by Station House Officer Inspector Shri Mahesh Lilhare made the arrest based on tip-off information. The police team intercepted the accused while he was transporting the illicit liquor in a large black bag on the vehicle.

A search revealed 300 quarters (54 liters) of country liquor 'Masala' seized from the vehicle. The estimated total value of the seized liquor and the vehicle is approximately 1,65,000 Rupees.

Accused's Criminal History Revealed

The arrested individual, Mohammed Samir Khan, 19, resides in Roshanpura Jhuggi, Police Station Arera Hills, Bhopal. He has studied up to 8th grade and is employed in private work. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused has a criminal record.

He is already implicated in a case (Crime No. 348/2026) registered at Ayodhyanagar Police Station this year under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act. Police are actively continuing their campaign against drug traffickers and endeavoring to spread public awareness.
