15 Arrested in Assam for Offensive Social Media Posts After Red Fort Blast; Delhi Police Uncover Larger Terror Plot

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday morning announced that 15 individuals have been arrested across the state for posting offensive and inflammatory content on social media following the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort earlier this week.

“In connection with the offensive social media posts following the Delhi blasts, 15 persons have been arrested across Assam so far,” CM Sarma wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“In addition to the 6 arrests made yesterday, overnight we have arrested the following persons also: Rafijul Ali (Bongaigaon), Forid Uddin Laskar (Hailakandi), Inamul Islam (Lakhimpur), Firuj Ahmed @ Papon (Lakhimpur), Shahil Shoman Sikdar @ Shahidul Islam (Barpeta), Rakibul Sultan (Barpeta), Nasim Akram (Hojai), Taslim Ahmed (Kamrup), Abdur Rohim Mollah @ Bappy Hussain (South Salmara).”

Reiterating the government’s stance, CM Sarma said,

“Assam Police remains uncompromising against those who glorify violence.”

Delhi Police Reveal Larger Terror Conspiracy

Meanwhile, investigating agencies in Delhi have uncovered what appears to be a larger coordinated terror plan linked to the Red Fort blast.

Sources said the accused had been preparing multiple vehicles loaded with explosives for simultaneous attacks across several Indian cities. Each pair of attackers was reportedly assigned a different target location, pointing to a well-organized terror network.

Several suspects — including Dr Muzammil, Dr Adeel, Dr Umar, and Shaheen — have been found to have links with previous terror cases. Officials believe the conspiracy was intercepted just in time, preventing further large-scale attacks.

Blast Driver Identified as Dr Umar Un Nabi

Investigators have confirmed that the car involved in the Red Fort explosion was driven by Dr Umar Un Nabi. His identity was verified through DNA tests, matching samples with his mother’s.

Police said Umar’s leg was found trapped inside the wrecked vehicle, proving he was driving at the time of the explosion. Authorities are now tracing his connections and digital footprint to determine the full extent of the network.
