115 Prisoners Released in Madhya Pradesh on Independence Day; Jail Minister Extends Greetings

115 Prisoners Released in Madhya Pradesh on Independence Day
As many as 115 eligible prisoners incarcerated in Madhya Pradesh jails have been released to commemorate the 80th Independence Day. This release was carried out under the 'Premature Release Policy, 2025' of the Madhya Pradesh Government's Jail Department.
The released inmates comprise 110 men and 5 women. This initiative aims to encourage good conduct, disciplined behaviour, and adherence to prescribed rules among the prisoners.
The Premature Release Policy makes provision for the release of eligible prisoners from the state's jails on five special occasions annually: Republic Day, Ambedkar Jayanti, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, and National Tribal Pride Day. This policy not only motivates prisoners towards reform but also contributes to fostering a positive environment within the jails.
Prisoner Releases Across State Jails
Inmates were released from various jails across the state. The specific numbers from different jail circles include: 18 from Jabalpur, 15 from Bhopal, 15 from Rewa, 11 from Satna, 12 from Indore, 12 from Ujjain, 08 from Sagar, 07 from Narmadapuram, 07 from Barwani, 06 from Gwalior, and 04 from Narsinghpur. This process was conducted simultaneously across jails in different districts of the state.
Emphasis on Rehabilitation
Dr. Varun Kapoor, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Madhya Pradesh, extended his best wishes to the released inmates. He urged all prisoners to refrain from engaging in any criminal activities upon their release and to reintegrate into the mainstream society as responsible citizens.
Dr. Kapoor also highlighted that the released prisoners received various vocational training during their incarceration. These skills include tailoring, carpentry, blacksmithing, masonry, and building material construction. The objective of imparting these skills is to make the prisoners self-reliant and assist them in starting a new life in society.
