₹10.55 Crore Bridge to be Built at Lokahwa Dip, Benefiting Two Lakh People

Major Infrastructure Boost for Tulsi Pur Constituency

Residents of the Tulsi Pur assembly constituency in Balrampur district have received a significant development. The long-awaited project for a bridge, approach roads, and protective works at Lokahwa Dip on the Harihar Ganj–Laliya–Bankatwa inter-district road has been financially approved at the government level.

This project, a result of continuous efforts by MLA Kailash Nath Shukla, promises a permanent solution to the region's longstanding transportation issues. It is expected to inject new momentum into the socio-economic development of nearly two lakh people from dozens of villages.

Project Cost and Approval Milestone

The total estimated cost for this vital project is ₹1055.38 lakh, approximately ₹10.55 crore. The financial sanction was granted during a meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee held on August 31, 2026, marking a major step forward in the bridge construction process.

MLA Shukla had persistently advocated for a solution to this major regional problem at the government level. Consequently, the Public Works Department and the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation prepared the preliminary detailed estimate for the project.

Bridge Specifications and Improved Connectivity

The proposed bridge will be 80.08 meters long and 7.50 meters wide. The project also includes the construction of 200-meter long approach roads on both sides of the bridge, along with necessary protective works.

Upon completion, residents will enjoy safe, smooth, and uninterrupted all-year-round transportation. Currently, during the monsoon, the road at Lokahwa Dip gets blocked by water from surrounding drains, posing a risk of accidents.

Addressing Seasonal Road Closures and Detours

Although there is no river at Lokahwa Dip, heavy rainfall causes water from various surrounding drains to accumulate on the road. This makes it difficult for commuters, students, and locals to gauge the water depth, increasing the risk of accidents and loss of life.

This route serves as a lifeline for numerous villages, including Harihar Ganj, Laliya, Shivpur, Bankatwa, and Bardolia. When the road is closed due to waterlogging in the rainy season, essential services like healthcare and education are also affected.

In normal conditions, people use this route. However, during the monsoon, when the dip is flooded and the road is closed, residents have to take a detour of approximately 70 kilometers to reach the Balrampur district headquarters. The construction of the bridge will provide a permanent end to this major inconvenience, saving both time and money.

Benefits for Two Lakh Residents and Emergency Services

The construction of the bridge and approach roads will directly benefit approximately two lakh people from dozens of surrounding villages, including Laliya, Harihar Ganj, Shivpura, Bankatwa, and Bardolia.

Students, patients, farmers, traders, and daily commuters will have access to safe transportation throughout the year. The bridge will also facilitate easier access for ambulances, fire services, and other emergency vehicles to reach the region's villages, enabling quicker responses in any emergency.

Farmers will benefit from easier transportation of their produce to markets, potentially increasing their income. Local business activities will also receive a boost, contributing to the region's economic development. This project is poised to be a significant step towards the overall development of the area.

Administrative Approval Imminent, Construction to Begin Soon

Rohit Agarwal, Deputy Project Manager, Bridge Construction Unit, stated that the project has received financial approval from the Expenditure Finance Committee and the process for issuing administrative approval is currently underway and expected to be completed soon.

Following the receipt of the government order, further actions will be taken as per regulations to commence construction work. The construction of the long bridge at Lokahwa Dip is not merely a transportation facility but will prove to be a new lifeline for the development of the entire region.
